Carbon ambitions

There are lots of ways of describing carbon reduction ambitions. Here are a few of the most popular …

Carbon True Zero

Making no carbon emissions at all. This is almost impossible to achieve.

Carbon Net Zero

Carbon Net Zero aims to reduce emissions from Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 90% and offset the last 10% by carbon removal.  Carbon removal means taking positive action to remove or sequester carbon from the atmosphere.

Carbon Neutral

Carbon Neutral aims to offset all of carbon emissions from Scopes 1 & 2 by carbon avoidance.  Carbon avoidance or carbon credits means works by paying money into projects that stop emissions that would otherwise have occurred.

Carbon Balanced

Carbon Balanced means measuring, offsetting and reducing a defined set of activities through voluntary action.   Offsetting is another term for carbon removal. We use Carbon Balancing from World Land Trust for our carbon offsetting.
